Double Fortune

We know this is bending the rules-- but this story-telling opportunity was way too good to pass up. We weren't wearing the pants tonight. But we were together. And... this is how it all went down:

We were enjoying a meal at Pei-Wei. Due to high volumes of people, we had the joy and privilege of sitting at the bar, watching the chefs cook at very fast paces. We were amazed. But that's not the point. After dinner, we cracked open the traditional fortune cookie for dessert, and to our surprise, this is what we saw:

This does not happen-- people don't EVER get the same fortune. We know we have the same pair of pants,........but NOW, we have the same future.

How will our new passionate romances unfold?!???? To be continued...

best bagel ever

Yesterday marked the initial debut of my jeans. However, much to my dismay, nothing too interesting or dramatic occurred. I thought that maybe I shouldn't even write a blog entry but decided I better write at least something since it was the first time my jeans made an appearance to the world. I actually felt a little strange walking through campus to Old Testament just because they are well, a little different from your normal pair of jeans. But then I decided I liked them and so does Kathryn, and that is really all that matters.

The highlight of my day involved a trip to Brueggers with Kathryn where we started our blog, caught each other up on the past two days of our lives, did a very small amount of school work, and ate the most amazing bagel ever created. As if I wasn't actually addicted to bagels before, now we may have a real problem. Good thing I have so many punch cards that I get free bagels and coffee quite often. All I have left to say is ... egg, cheddar cheese, and sun-dried tomato spread. Simply amazing.

adventure #1

the first weekend i wore the pants, i wore the pants 3 days in a row. yeah, i know... to some people that may be gross, but i didn't really feel like doing laundry.

i was going to church that morning, and knew i was going to be out of my apartment the whole day until i got home that night, after babysitting. i wore a skirt to church, and grabbed the pants out of my pile of laundry to change into before going to babysit. after church, i decided i wanted to change into my jeans. instead of going into the restroom at the church, or at the barnes and noble, i had the bright idea of changing in my car- in the parking lot of barnes and noble. in order to make sure nobody could see me, i slipped my jeans on really fast inside my car, and quickly stepped out of my car. at that moment, i felt a cushiony piece of material in my pant leg. "what could this be?" i thought to myself. not thinking that it may look awkward to outsiders to see me reaching into my pants, i fished the cushiony piece of material out quickly. to my horror, i pulled out a pair of dirty underwear that had gotten stuck in the pant leg. (i guess the pants got really mixed in with the laundry.)

moral of the story: before you re-wear a dirty pair of jeans that you pull out of your laundry pile, make sure they are free of dirty underwear.

this blog was destined to happen.

It all started when on any given day, we would meet up to hang out, and we would be wearing very similar clothing- similar colors, similar styles... Then one day, we went to Caribou Coffee to read. Coincidentally, we were wearing similar outfits. Jenna could not sit still. So, we went to the Gap to browse the sale racks. Hidden amongst the rows of denim were two very unique style jeans. Straight-legged, 'distressed' (whatever that truly means) patched jeans... We couldn't resist, since they were on sale. So, we bravely entered the dressing room. (There was only one unlocked door, so we entered one room.) Same pair of jeans. Different sizes. Both fit. But as we tried each pair on, we finally determined that the pair Kathryn was trying on at the moment was the pair Jenna wanted to buy, and vice versa. It was magical moment. Very reminiscent of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"... how is it that both pairs fit, but we felt drawn to one specific pair? We determined that because we bought the same unique-looking pair of pants, we would call each other the day before hanging out together, to make sure we weren't going to wear them on the same day. Because lets face it, that would probably happen. Thus, Jenna and Kathryn walked out of the Gap that day, new owners of two pairs of magical pants whose wearings would be dictated by one single rule: they cannot be worn by their owners on the same day.
